Our first night at home was a sleepless one, which was to be expected. G wouldn’t sleep in his crib, and after several hours of trying to lull him to dreamland (and several dirty diapers), Susan and I went downstairs to try getting him to sleep in his Pack and Play. No good. We wondered if he would ever sleep. Finally, he curled up in my arms and dozed. By then his parents were dozing, too. We finally put him in his infant car seat, and he was content. Simon, G and I slept in the den from 4 to 8 a.m. I sent Susan to bed at 4 a.m. because I needed her to be awake later if G never slept.
Needless to say we are learning a lot about baby care! It’s funny how he can go from major meltdown to cooing in seconds just by changing position, being rocked, or saying “shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” long and loud.
